Some of the best desserts combine fruit with cinnamon. Yum! Make it raw, vegan, gluten-free, and sugar-free…double yum!
One of my favorite raw desserts is apple pie. With pecans, walnuts, apples, dates, and cinnamon how can you go wrong?
I made this one for my best friend on her birthday!
Raw Apple Crumble Pie
Original recipe on Sweetly Raw
Makes one 9″ pie
Ingredients
2 cups walnuts
1 cup pecans
3/4 cup pitted and packed medjool dates
6 medium sized apples, peeled and cored
1/2 cup pitted and packed medjool dates
1/4 cup golden raisins (can use regular)
2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
1 tsp pure vanilla extract (or 1/2 of a vanilla bean)
Directions
For the crust, in a food processor, combine pecans, walnuts, and dates until they become crumbly. Press half of the mixture into a 9” pie plate.
For the filling, peel and core all apples.
In a food processor, puree 2 of the apples, and remaining ingredients, until smooth. Pour this mixture into a bowl.
Chop the other 4 apples into slices, making sure not to make them too thick. Add to the puree and mix.
Spread this filling into the pie crust.
Top with the remaining pie crust, sprinkling it over the top like crumble.
Enjoy!
