Rating: ✰✰✰✰ (4 out of 5 stars)

My Thoughts:
Kate O’Malley is a hostage negotiator. Dave Richman is an FBI agent. By some twist of fate they meet during a hostage situation and that’s when it all begins. Someone connected with her painful past is targeting Kate. Dave has protected people his entire life and when he falls for Kate, he’s determined to protect her no matter what the costs.

The Negotiator was suspenseful and romantic. There were times when it made me cry, laugh, and bite my nails. The plot was exciting, the characters were genuine, and I loved Dee Henderson’s writing style. Kate and Dave made quite the pair. Their dialogue was so witty and fun! They also had good conversation about the Bible and Christianity, which I really enjoyed. I learned a few things and I always love that in a book. Then there was Kate’s makeshift family, the O’Malley’s. They were sweet, hilarious and just lovable! I can’t wait to read more about them.

Then there are the things I didn’t quite like about this book. The first is Kate’s past. She was so careful about what she shared with Dave, which was fine at first. But I was a little disappointed when I never got to hear her full story. The second was the ending. It was so action packed during the story that even though the end was exciting, it fell just a little flat.

The Negotiator really pulled me in. With hostage situations, creepy stalkers, mystery, romance, and faith how can you go wrong? Dee Henderson is quite the talented author. I am looking forward to reading more about the O’Malley clan in the next book of this series!

It’s been WAY too long since I read this, though I have to admit I remember loving the entire series – and this first book being a favorite. It was my first experience with a series following a close-knit family and it’s what set up my love for Susan May Warren’s, Denise Hunter’s and of course, Dani Pettrey’s current series. So much awesomeness.

      Hi Rissi!

I really loved the characters too. The family was the main reason I really enjoyed the first one! Good to know that the rest of the series is great…unfortunately I have a pile of to-read books on my nightstand and I have to wait to read the rest :/. You mentioned some of my favorite authors!! Thanks for stopping by my blog 🙂

This series is good. I need to get in a better habit of re-reading my favorites. I get caught up in reading new books, but most find there way onto my favorites list! My current fav is Stealing Justice by Adrienne Giordano. She is absolutely brilliant in this genre. She has so many other books I could get caught reading those for months! I recommend her though, adriennegiordano.com is her site. She is worth a look!

      Hi Cindy!

I totally understand what you mean. I’m having a hard time reading the rest of this series because I have so many new books I have to read. I have never heard of Adrienne Giordano…thanks so much for the recommendation. Adding Stealing Justice to my “to-read” list now!

Thanks for stopping by my blog 🙂
