A relaxing day of rock climbing takes a disturbing turn when Kayden McKenna’s route brings her face-to-face with a dead climber. Is it a terrible accident or something darker? When the case is handed to overburdened sheriff Landon Grainger, he turns to Jake Westin for help. With Jake’s past now revealed, he’s ready to use his talent for investigation again–but he could never prepare for where the mystery will take him.
Kayden’s climbing expertise soon leads her and Jake to the realization that the death was no accident. And worse, it seems the killer is onto them. When strange things begin happening in Yancey, Jake is terrified that once again his world may put someone he loves in danger. But the truth is far worse than he could ever imagine.
The McKenna family is back! Every single book in the Alaskan Courage series has been consistently good—and Silenced is no exception. I was so excited to finally read Kayden and Jake’s story. Just as cute as the others, Silenced made for a thrilling, exciting, and entertaining ride.
One of the best things about this series for me is the adorable, romantic characters. Kayden and Jake were simply perfect for one another! Kayden is stubborn and completely frustrating, but she has a heart of gold. Jake has dealt with so much heartache, but he continues to persevere and hope. Their love felt real. One of my favorite parts of this book was the highly anticipated wedding of Bailey and Cole. I just loved how the author gave us a glimpse of Cole’s thoughts during the ceremony. Thank you for that, Dani Pettrey!
The suspense was heart pounding and intense. This was the first book in the series where I was literally scared. The plot turns were very surprising, more so than the other books in the series. This book will keep you guessing until the end!
Silenced was a wonderful addition to this series. If you like a good romance, charming setting, intense suspense, entertaining mystery, and adorable characters—the Alaskan Courage books are for you! The only thing I didn’t like about Silenced was when it ended and I realized I’d have to wait until 2015 to revisit Yancy, Alaska and the McKenna family again! I cannot wait to read more from Reef and Kirra in book five, Sabotaged.
**I received this book for free from Bethany House Publishing in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are completely my own.

Ditto – your shout-out to Dani about writing Cole’s perspective was great. It was not only appropriate, but a nice addition to make the story all the more complete.
Honestly, I think this story is rivaling Submerged for my very favorites in the Alaskan Courage series! 🙂
