Silver Matlock and Jared Newman know traveling together is a bad idea. Bad for Silver’s already tarnished reputation in her small Colorado town. Bad for bounty hunter Jared’s secret, single-minded mission for revenge. But Silver is determined to track down the rogue who left her at the altar and stole the last remnant of her father’s fortune. And Jared’s in a hurry to hunt down the murderer who destroyed his family–even if Silver is too distractingly beautiful for comfort.
The pair takes off over mountain and desert, past bleak homesteads and raw mining towns, hot on the trail of the two villains who took what wasn’t theirs to take. Soon supplies dwindle, secrets emerge, and suspicion leave Silver and Jared at odds when they need each other most. To confront an enemy deadlier than desert rattlesnakes and rocky cliffs, Silver and Jared must learn to forgive and trust and face the question they haven’t dared voice: What happens next?
Not for a moment was I bored or tired while I was reading The Heart’s Pursuit. It’s fast-paced suspense, endearing characters, western setting, and lively dialogue made for a beautiful story! I found myself laughing, crying, and giddy with delight as I turned page after page until I was finished. In fact, I read the book in one setting. You know how there’s some books that you can just sit back and simply enjoy? The Heart’s Pursuit was one of those books.
Silver and Jared were just charming. I immediately loved Silver’s spunk. She was everything I like to read in a character–sweet, tough, real, and endearing! Jared was driven and determined, but also caring and selfless. Plus, from the way he was described–handsome! Their wasn’t a whole lot of attention on any secondary characters, but Dean was a great addition to the story.
The plot was just suspenseful enough to keep you at the edge of your seat without being overly dramatic. I thoroughly enjoyed the chase and watching Silver and Jared grow closer along the way.
Robin Lee Hatcher is one of my favorite authors of historical/western christian fiction. She just has this way of completely pulling you into the character’s stories. This wasn’t my first book I’ve read by her and it certainly won’t be my last!
If you enjoy a good western or historical read, I definitely recommend you check out The Heart’s Pursuit! With a suspenseful story, delightful romance, and endearing characters–what more can you ask for?
**I received this book free from Litfuse Publicity Group in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are entirely my own.
Robin Lee Hatcher‘s latest novel, The Heart’s Pursuit, is receiving critical praise: “The Old West lives again in this inspirational romantic adventure. . . . Themes of forgiveness, justice and mercy dominate the story and add to the characters’ depth. Hatcher treats readers to a rich sensory experience—you can taste the desert dust and smell the smoke and stench of a crowded gambling hall.” (Publishers Weekly)
Robin is celebrating the release of her novel by giving away a $200 “Romantic Weekend Getaway.”

Wonderful review, Bekah! Now, I am *very* curious about this one.
Robin used to be a favorite author, only I hadn’t read anything by her for eons, until last summer(?) when I read one of her more recent novels… cannot think of its name but I know it was about a woman who was about to remarry following her husband having left years earlier, and – of course – he returns on the eve of her engagement. It was a sweet story. 🙂

Hatcher is such a great storyteller. I’ve been reading her books for years, but I haven’t read many of her recent books either. Hmmm…I haven’t read that one. It sounds cute…now I want to check it out! I’ll have to find it…;)
Thank you for reading, Rissi!
