She’s the coach’s brilliant daughter, clueless about love. He’s the dethroned football star, ready to teach Romance 101. When dark secrets and sparks collide, there’s no playbook for what happens next.
The day Andrew Levin arrives at Washington High, Harper O’Malley knows he’ll make the perfect starter boyfriend. The school’s newest band geek is totally in Harper’s league, yet completely out of this late-bloomer’s reach. Between fitting in with a new family, scoring the first chair in band, and rescuing dogs for the local animal shelter, Harper’s never had the opportunity to hone her dating skills. But even though Harper’s love life is far from perfect, she’s got the perfect plan. Harper knows she’s insane to agree to tutor Ridley Estes, a notorious heartbreaker and the star of her high school’s football team—but in exchange, he’s offered to school her in the game of love. Just when she sees promise with her crush, a football scandal rocks her family, her town, and Ridley’s entire future. Harper suddenly has everything to lose—her family, friends, and even her heart. When the dust of the scandal settles, nothing will be the same. Including the girl who asked the most popular jock to teach her about love.

My Review:
You know, sometimes there will be books you come across that manage to make you both laugh hysterically at moments so funny you wonder if it’s real, tear up with empathy for characters you can’t help but adore, and overall cause your heart to swell with just so many FEELS. Jenny B. Jones manages to give us a story that does all that and more with all her books, and I’ll Be Yours is no exception. Before I get into all the reasons I loved this book, let me start by telling you a little bit on what it’s about.Harper O’Malley considers herself to be a smart nerd with issues. She’s sixteen and never had a crush until now, and it’s on Andrew Levin — fellow band geek and her perfect guy. Harper wants to be his girlfriend so badly, she makes a crazy deal with popular and super-attractive football jock, Ridley Estes. In exchange for the tutoring sessions he needs for a college scholarship, Ridley agrees to teach Harper how to snag a guy. But just when things are looking up, a scandal involving her college football coach father rocks her world and brings up past fears she’s shoved back for years. As Ridley lets her into his less-than-perfect world, and she in turn begins to trust him back — Harper doesn’t know what to do. Can she let go of the past enough to realize she doesn’t need the safety of a picture-perfect relationship, just a real one with a guy who’s perfect for her?
I’ve adored Jenny B. Jones and her novels ever since reading Katie Parker Production series when I was thirteen and knew as soon as I saw her latest release that I couldn’t miss it. Let me tell you, her writing magic is still alive and strong! I started cracking up on the first page. My sister even turned to look at me like, “already??” Why yes, already. This story was cute, cute, CUTE from beginning to end! The chemistry between main characters was undeniable. (Can we just talk for a sec about that kissing scene, though???) I loved Harper’s character growth — her facing the gritty past and finally realizing the strong, courageous, intelligent, and worthy person she’s always been inspired me. Everything from Harper and Riley’s dog-saving escapades to their hilarious how-to-date lessons was magnetically written and made me feel as if I was apart of the story. It was the perfect blend of humor, sweet love, and the power of forgiveness and hope.
Hands down, I loved this book and would recommend it to ANYONE, but particularly to those who like YA lit (because then you definitely *mustmustmust* read this adorable book). As soon as I finished the last page, I wanted to pick it up and start all over again. Another A+ read from one of my all-time favorite authors, I’ll Be Yours is one for the books and not to be missed!
*I received this book free in exchange for my honest review.
