No one needs to push Nikki Boyd to excel on the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force.
The case of her own missing sister, still unsolved after ten years, is the driving force in her work. When a Polaroid photo of a missing girl shows up at a crime scene, Nikki quickly recognizes similarities to the past. The closer she gets to the abductor, the more she feels this case has become personal, and she is not the hunter . . . but the hunted.
With this explosive first book in The Nikki Boyd Files, award-winning author Lisa Harris takes you on a fast-paced pursuit of justice that will have you holding your breath until the heart-stopping finish.
My Review:
I am forever finding new series to add to my extremely long to-be-read list. And I am forever reminding myself after reading the first book of just such a series that I am NOT one to wait patiently when the second book isn’t readily available. I usually kick myself for starting series I can’t finish, and although Vendetta didn’t end off on a major cliffhanger (thank goodness), I am still sitting here regretting my decision to start this one…because I want need more Nikki Boyd Files!
Nikki Boyd’s past still haunts her to this day. Her life, family, career- everything changed the day her sister Sarah was taken ten years ago. Now she’s a special agent with the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force and finds people for a living, never giving up hope that one day she might also discover what happened to her sister. And experience combined with hard work has made Nikki exceptionally good at her job. On her day off work, Nikki goes rock climbing with her good friend Tyler to honor her best friend’s (and his wife’s) memory. The day ends drastically different than she imagined when she gets a call that a girl has gone missing in her near vicinity. She takes the case, and ex-military Tyler pitches in as well. The case quickly becomes very personal when Nikki discovers links to her sister’s cold case. Could the Angel Abductor be back? Or is it just some sick copycat playing with her head? Find out as things go from bad to worse in this cat-and-mouse game with a killer.
I really liked this book. The action drew me in right away, and every time I put Vendetta down I was itching to get my hands back on it again. Nikki is a solid main character, even though I didn’t connect with her immediately I was still intrigued enough with her character and past to give her a shot. And while at first I was confused about her relationship with her dead best friend’s husband (man, is that messy) let me just say, I am totally on Team Tyler now you guys! He was the PERFECT “hero” of the story, if you want to call him that. Bonus- the plot twists weren’t at all cliche or predictable. I was delightfully surprised to find myself actually shocked at some points, even tense from the suspense. It would really make a great action movie.
I don’t want to give anything away, so all I have left to say is that if you enjoy suspense thrillers and budding romance then this is the series for you. It’s one of those series that even though it features a different case each book, it still has an underlying story that connects each one and makes it hard to wait. So if you’re like me and have a hard time getting over a book you start to absolutely adore, maybe you should hold off on this one. Because I am absolutely attached and miserably waiting for spring 2016 to come along so I can get more from Nikki Boyd and the team!!
*I received this book free from the publisher in exchange for my honest review. My sincerest apologies to the publisher and author for my tardiness.

I’ve heard only the best about this book. Considering how many crime dramas I watch, I should make this an early 2016 must! Great review, Bekah and awesome “what’s next” graphic. This review is, plus looks, amazing. 🙂

Thanks so much, Rissi!! Cool, hope you enjoy the read! Lol, I watch a ton of crime dramas as well, so I’m always on the lookout for a good suspense novel. 😉 Thanks! I *think* I am finally learning how to make graphics, though my sister seems to think they’re very “plain.” Lol!
