Mystery and Mayhem Tour: Author Interviews with Dani Pettrey and Lynette Eason!Hello, my dear friends and fellow bookaholics! Today I am SO ecstatic and honored to be a part of this awesome blog tour showcasing Sins of the Past, a romantic suspense novella collection by authors Dani Pettrey and Lynette Eason. I am such a huge fan of these major talents, so that makes me especially thrilled to share with you all these fun mini interviews!

In case you missed it, there’s a mystery to be solved! Head over to Bethany House and catch up on the mystery and the clues that have already been given out. Then come back here to receive your next clue…*rubs hands together* It’s a good one, folks.

But before we get into everything like the next clue and author interviews, I wanted to share more on what this epic-sounding novella collection is about. If you’re a romantic suspense lover, straighten up and lookie below. You won’t want to miss this. ↓

Sins of the PastAbout the book

Three Novellas from Bestselling Authors

In Dee Henderson’s “Missing,” a Wyoming sheriff is called to Chicago when his elderly mother goes missing. Paired with a savvy Chicago cop, the two realize her disappearance is no accident, and a race against the clock begins.

Dani Pettrey returns to Alaska with “Shadowed,” introducing readers to the parents of her beloved McKenna clan. Adventure, romance, and danger collide when a young fisherman nets the body of an open-water swimming competitor who may actually be a possible Russian defector.

Lynette Eason’s “Blackout” delivers the story of a woman once implicated in a robbery gone wrong. The loot has never been found– but her memory of that night has always been unreliable. Can she remember enough to find her way to safety when the true culprit comes after her?

Author Interviews

Dani PettreyAbout Dani:
Dani Pettrey is a wife, mom, grandma, and the author of Cold Shot, the first book in the Chesapeake Valor series, and the Alaskan Courage romantic suspense series, which includes her bestselling novels Submerged, Shattered,Stranded, Silenced, and Sabotaged. Her books have been honored with the Daphne du Maurier award, two HOLT Medallions, a Christy Award nomination, two National Readers’ Choice Awards, the Gail Wilson Award of Excellence, and Christian Retailing’s Best Award, among others.

She feels blessed to write inspirational romantic suspense because it incorporates so many things she loves—the thrill of adventure, nail-biting suspense, the deepening of her characters’ faith, and plenty of romance. She and her husband reside in Maryland, where they enjoy time with their two daughters, a son-in- law, and a super adorable grandson.

1. What are the challenges in writing a novella versus writing a full-length novel?

I really enjoyed writing a novella. I would absolutely love to do it again, but there were some challenges. The biggest challenges were pacing and relationship development. You have to keep the story moving, but have so much happen in a shortened amount of time. You also have a lot less time to develop a deep relationship.

2. How did you come up with the title?

I read Dee’s novella and looked for the themes in it that would also work with my novella and Sins of the Past was one of them. Both of our novellas featured a past sin that our characters had to deal with. Bethany House liked the title and went with it!

3. If you were stranded on a deserted island what one object would you want with you?

Serious answer: my Bible. Would never want to be anywhere without it.
Fun answer: Dark chocolate because everything is better with chocolate.

4. What’s your favorite movie and tv show?

My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice (Keira Knightley version—sorry BBC fans) and my favorite tv show is Lie to Me, but it’s no longer on the air so I’m very sad. Right now I’m enjoying Blacklist.

5. Did you picture your main characters as anyone in particular?

Yes. For Ben I pictured Jake Gyllenhaal and for Libby, Julia Stiles.

~~~~~
LynetteEasonAbout Lynette:
Lynette Eason is the best selling, award winning author of the Women of Justice Series, the Deadly Reunions series, Hidden Identity series and the newly releasing Elite Guardians series. She writes for Revell and Harlequin’s Love Inspired Suspense line. Her books have appeared on the CBA and ECPA bestseller lists. She has won several awards including the 2013 Carol Award for WHEN A HEART STOPS in the Romantic Suspense category. Lynette teaches at writing conferences all over the country. She is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) and Romance Writers of America (RWA). Lynette can be found online at www.lynetteeason.com and www.facebook.com/lynette.eason and @lynetteeason on Twitter.
1. What is it like to collaborate with fellow authors?
Truly, there wasn’t much collaboration going on. We each had a theme, Sins of the past, and we took it and came up with our own stories.
2. How do you gain inspiration for your characters?
I don’t consider myself “inspired”. I just do a lot of thinking. LOL. But sometimes, a TV show or a newspaper article will give me ideas.
3. Coffee or tea?
Tea. And unsweetened!
4. If you could be a superhero, what power would you choose?
The power to erase peoples’ past hurts. Or to be invisible. I think I could learn all kinds of cool stuff if I was invisible. Ha.
5. If you were casting your characters for a movie, what actors would you pick?
Probably Kenzi and Deeks from NCISLA. I just like their chemistry.
A big thanks to Dani and Lynette for answering these interview questions! Had a blast reading your answers. Couldn’t be happier to host you both! -Bekah
The Next Clue
BlogClue5This clue was sent to Dani taped to a 3×5 card that said, “Not the kidnapping victim.” There was a dark brown hair trapped in the tape, about five inches long. Does it belong to the kidnapping victim? The kidnapper? The kidnapper’s dog? We can’t know for sure. (Please don’t give away which character you eliminated from the list of potential victims so other readers can enjoy the fun! M&MSocMedia800Don’t forget to RSVP to the Facebook Party on June 2nd where Anonymous might make an appearance so we can solve this case! Again, here is the link to the Bethany House landing page. What about you guys? Are you picking up Sins of the Past? Which Dani Pettrey and Lynette Eason books have you read? Are you going to the author Facebook party? Thanks so much for reading and stopping by my blog. You guys are awesome. ♥
