Some of my absolute favorite blogs {Dreaming Under the Same Moon, Wishful Endings, Rather Be Reading YA, and more!} participate in a fun weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish called Top Ten Tuesday. I’ve always loved reading these fun posts, so I thought it was about time I started participating! Plus, anyone can join…so if you love lists as much as I do visit The Broke and the Bookish to join in the fun. Thanks for the inspiration, ladies. 🙂
This week’s topic is 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get To. I’m pretty sure I have a ton more than ten (anyone else?!), but here is a list of the top books I was really looking forward to but just never got to it. Oops.
Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get To
hosted by The Broke and the Bookish
1. Thunder by Bonnie S. Calhoun
I showed a book trailer of Thunder in one of my Trailer Tuesday posts a long while ago because of how excited I was for it’s release. A young adult dystopian novel about a girl living in post-apocalyptic America, this one really peaked my interest. Just never got to it. *sigh*
2. The Princess Spy by Melanie Dickerson
I’ve loved Dickerson’s inspirational fairytale retellings for years now and usually don’t miss any of her new books. A reimagining of The Princess and the Frog, I really need to read this one ASAP.
3. The Butterfly and the Violin by Kristy Cambron
I’ve heard such wonderful things about this debut author and was really looking forward to this story about a Manhattan arts dealer who tries to untangle the secrets behind a painting of an Austrian violinist during WWII. I love stories that mix modern day with the past.
4. Lizzy & Jane by Katherine Reay
A modern day retelling of Austen’s famous sisters. ‘Nuff said.
5. Blonde Ops by Charlotte Bennardo
Pitched as a cross between The Devil Wears Prada and James Bond, this teen novel had me interested at first sight.
6. Until I Found You by Victoria Bylin
I’ve heard amazing things about Bylin’s works, but just haven’t read any yet. Described as a “Contemporary Romance to Make You Laugh, Cry, and Fall in Love”, this one sounds great. Plus, just look at that gorgeous cover.
7. The Thousand-Dollar Tan Line by Rob Thomas
Veronica Mars is easily one of my all-time favorite tv shows. Loved the movie. Planning on loving the book series, too.
8. Lady Thief by A.C. Gaughen
I read the first book in this series, Scarlet, when it released in 2012 and have been eagerly awaiting this sequel. I can’t believe I never got to it! It’s an unique retelling of Robin Hood…from a girl’s perspective!
9. Panic by Lauren Oliver
A new young-adult/sci-fi/suspense/mystery series from the same author who wrote the very popular Delirium series. Really excited about this one.
10. Raptor 6 by Ronie Kendig
Kendig’s novels have all been dynamite in my experience. Can’t believe I still haven’t read the first in her new series about a Special Forces trained captain trying to stop hackers from stealing national security secrets. Sounds exciting, right?!
So those were some of my picks for books I wanted to read but never got to in 2014! I had so much fun writing my very first Top Ten Tuesday post. What about you? What are some 2014 releases you meant to read/were looking forward to but just never got to? Comment below!

Awesome, awesome list, Bekah! Hope you enjoy L&J and ooh, I’m curious about ‘Blonde Ops’ as well. Cannot wait to read those Veronica Mars novels either. They sound like fabulous reads. 🙂
Loved this post!

PS; thanks for the shout-out! This is definitely a fun meme. Oh and I love Tressa’s blog too. She packs a lot of useful and helpful information on her site! 🙂

Thanks, Rissi! I had a ton of fun putting it together. Oo, don’t they?! Hopefully I can race through all the books I have to read so I can finally check out that VM one.
No problem, your blog really is the best! Haha. Thanks so much for stopping by–as always! 🙂
Rissi says
Absolutely! It’s more ways to go on adventures with Veronica Mars. That character…! Very memorable. 🙂
Thank you for the kind words. Right back atcha. Always enjoy my visits here to your fab space – and enjoy your visits to Dreaming Under the Same Moon. Thank YOU.

Thanks for linking my blog! I’m glad you like it. 🙂
I haven’t heard of most of these books. I was disappointed by Panic after how much I loved Delirium.
Bekah says
No problem–your blog is great! Ah, that’s a bummer to hear. I still haven’t finished Delirium, but I’m really liking it so far. Thanks for visiting my blog, Jenna! 🙂

Definitely read The Butterfly and the Violin and L&J. The two are quite different from each other, but both are strong, fantastic pieces of literature in Christian fiction today, in my opinion. Hope you enjoy, Bekah!
Bekah says
Your review for The Butterfly and the Violin is the reason why I wanted to read it so badly in the first place! (You write awesome book reviews, by the way!) And I’m very happy to hear how much you liked L&J as well. Thanks for stopping by my blog, Cassie, I will have to put those two on the top of my TBR pile! 🙂
Cassie says
Wow, really? Thanks so much for the compliment! And I’m so happy to hear my review made you want to read TBATV. 🙂
I’m glad I stopped by, I need to visit more often!

Hey, Bekah! Lovely list! I have to agree, some books on your list I couldn’t make time to read. Looking forward to doing so. 🙂
A shout-out to you, Rissi! You know I LOVE your blog as well. <3
Bekah says
Thanks so much, Miranda! Me too, I’m really looking forward to catching up on last year’s reads…and then ideally keeping up with the 2015 releases as well. Hopefully we can get to them soon!
Isn’t Rissi’s blog just fabulous?! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by, Miranda!
Heather @ Mrs Southern Bride says
I just bought a copy of the Princess Spy! It’s on my to read list this year. Lizzy & Jane is also on my radar. 🙂
Bekah says
Oo, fun! I haven’t purchased it yet but I really want to. Hope you enjoy it! And thank you for visiting my blog. 🙂
